Part of the Litchfield Elementary School District, Veraddo Heritage Elementary School was completed to open for the 2015-2016 academic year. The school includes two classroom buildings connected by a bridge to a gymnasium/cafeteria/media center and administrative building. The 8 acre site also includes playground and sports fields for the campus. The land was generously donated by Verrado devleoper BMD Associates Inc. Structurally, project features single story gymnasium and administrative buildings and 2 story masonry classrooms with steel deck over SJI steel joist roof framing and composite concrete-steel deck and wide flange beam floor system founded on conventional concrete spread footings. A continuous steel framed bridge was designed with construction / separation joints between structures to isolate thermal movement and load transfer between buildings.
